In addition to being an aesthetic nuisance, skin alterations can also pose health problems. From an aesthetic perspective, the visibility of skin changes is a disadvantage. From a diagnostic point of view, however, it is an advantage because potentially dangerous skin conditions can be detected and treated earlier. Our dermatologists at AIVA in Berlin specialise in minimally invasive surgical procedures on an outpatient basis to treat both benign and malignant skin changes. Our services include biopsies as well as minor and major surgeries on all parts of the body under local anaesthesia. If we suspect a skin change to be malignant, we always perform a histological-pathological examination to ensure a reliable diagnosis. Indications for surgery include abnormal moles (atypical naevi), suspected non-melanoma skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma, spinalioma, precancerosis), benign moles, atheromas, lipomas, cysts and scars. Treatment takes between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the extent and complexity of the procedure. The exact type of aftercare required depends on the diagnosis, but a break from sport for 10 to 14 days is generally recommended.
